Fabrics Needed:
1 Charm pack
2 3/4 yards coordinating fabric (dark gray or red in picture)
2 yards white background fabric
1 yard outer border fabric
5/8 yard binding fabric
4 1/2 yards backing fabric
78 inch by 78 inch batting
Other Supplies needed:
Sewing machine and your favorite notions,
coordinating thread,
rotary cutter, ruler, and mat.
First Tucker ruler could be used on this block.Class Preparation:
It is suggested that you pre-cut before class:
From the gray/red fabric cut:
(6) strips 2 3/4” x wof; subcut (72) squares. 2 3/4” x 2 3/4” (B)
(12) strips 1 1/2” x wof; subcut (288) squares, 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” (C)
(8) strips 2 1/2” x wof; subcut (30) sashing rectangles, 2 1/2” x 8 1/2” (D)
(11) strips 2 1/2” x wof; trim selvages, sew strips end to end and subcut (7) strips, 2 1/2” x 58 1/2” (E)
(4) strips 2 1/2” x wof; trim selvages, sew strips end to end and subcut (2) strips, 2 1/2” x 62 1/2” (F)
From the background fabric cut:
(6) strips 2 3/4” x wof; subcut (72) squares, 2 3/4” x 2 3/4” (G)
(21) strips 2 1/4” x wof; subcut (288) rectangles, 2 1/4” x 2 3/4” (H)
From the outer border fabric cut:
(7) strips 4 1/2” x wof; trim selvages, sew end to end and cut:
(2) 4 1/2” x 62 1/2” side borders (I)
(2) 4 1/2” x 70 1/2” top/bottom borders (J)
From the binding fabric cut:
(8) strips 2 1/2” x wof; trim selvages, sew the strips together to form continuous binding
From the backing fabric cut:
(2) pieces 78” x wof; sew the pieces together to form the backing
